Homevest partners with Imobiliare.ro, Romania’s leading property portal

Homevest, the cross-border home buying platform created by two early Wise employees, and backed by Venrex, an early Revolut investor, has partnered with Imobiliare.ro, Romania’s leading property portal, to simplify cross-border home buying.

“We’ve seen that a lot of Romanians living abroad are keen to buy property in their home country. By working with Homevest, we have been able to help more customers buy property, even if they are living abroad” says Dan Niculae, Head of New Business at Imobiliare.

Homevest simplifies cross-border home buying by matching applicants with banks that accept income from abroad, digitizing the application process, and helping banks streamline document translations and credit assessments.

“Partnering with Imobiliare has been a great way to reach people keen to buy back home. They have the same customer-first mentality as we have” says Petru Dimulescu, Homevest CTO and co-founder.

Since launching, Homevest has helped hundreds of Romanians living abroad check their eligibility and apply to banks. “Our customers have been very happy with our service so far,” says Erik Edin, Homevest CEO and co-founder. “Traditional banks often don’t know how to handle cross-border cases. By using our platform, the whole process goes much faster.”

Petru and Erik have worked together for the past eight years, first helping expats send money across borders at Wise. Then, building the digital mortgage lender Generation Home to help first time buyers get on the property ladder. Now, they are simplifying cross-border mortgages with Homevest.

“The Romanian market is growing very quickly, but we are already working to add Spain, Portugal and Poland to the countries where we can help expats buy their home back home.” says Erik Edin.
